Nicole and I have been torn about sharing our great news of our new baby boy Emmett and his birth story video due to a devastating loss involving our closest of friends Adam and Jessica. They lost their adorable little girl Edith in delivery 18 hours after our boy was born. Both Nicole and Jessica were due within the same week and have been enjoying pregnancy experiences together and Adam and I alike (or perhaps dislike at times) :) We planned to spend the recovery at the women’s center mere doors apart enjoying our little bundles and sharing in the memory. Our boy and girl were already in an arranged marriage . . . or at least arranged dating. :)
When we heard the news . . . we lost a piece of our family.
We had the unimaginable honor to hold beautiful Edith . . . to see her long thick hair, adorable nose, and her massive Adam fashioned hands.
She was perfect.
And she could have not picked better parents.
Our grief cannot be measured in any standard by what Adam and Jess and their family feel. Our hearts have a void . . . but gained a memory to fill that void stronger than anything before. This will undoubtedly change all our futures, but make us stronger in time.
We will hold our family closer . . .
We will cherish all moments . . .
We will realize how fragile life is . . .
We will love.
There is no question that through these moments that Edith’s memory will forever live on and be a part of Emmett’s life. This is why we felt the need to include her and her family’s story in our birth announcement. Adam and Jess gave us their blessing and trust as friends, so everyone in the same situation needs to give them the same back in these unexplainable times.
And with that, a little spark of happiness emerges, we are pleased to share our great news of the birth of our boy . . . Emmett Arnold Jonas on October 27, 2014.
For those that don’t know Adam and Jess we hope hearing their story is empowering and we hope all can find some joy in our birth story.
